Have you ever wondered
what fruits actually are?
Or rather how they are?
And I don’t mean like
“How are you, fruit?”
But, well, why not?
Talk to them
Ask questions
In their being are all the clues
I guess
So, the trees must spread
So the seeds must spread
Thus the fruit for us, the creatures, to eat
But on a small planet at the far end of a galaxy
A tasteless grey blob providing sufficient energy would do
But what are fruits like?
They are:
Colourful in so many ways
Tasty and juicy in endless variations
A caleidoscopic bliss of sweetness
In reverse, of course
Myriad possibilities of combination
A range of ripeness in a single branch
O’ look at mangos
At strawberries
Cantaloupe melon
Yeah, they are being shipped around the world
And that’s a bit of a disaster
But I don’t believe anymore
That it’s the fruits’ masterplan
To wreck the oceans and the sky
With combustion engines
The whole planetary level cargo thing
I think it has more to do with the spiders
If you look into it you see it
An obvious arachnoid scheme
Eight legs and cannot swim
You grow bitter of course
So you gotta show off
A box of tasty fruit
One spider
Everybody’s talking about
The spider
Consider the fruit
I find it really really hard to see them
As anything else than a peculiar form
Of overwhelming kindness
In the universe
